The Faraway Ranch Historic District is an important site as it was home to the Chiricahua apaches, Buffalo soldiers, Erickson and Stafford people. There are some good camping grounds at the monument. The Bonita Canyon Campground has 22 sites for camping. Tourists can also enjoy hiking at the monument. The Bonita Creek Loop, Heart of Rocks and Natural Bridge Trail are a few of the good hiking routes. The Chiricahua Mountains are one of the many ‘Sky Islands’ and will be loved by all nature lovers. The region is home to mountain lions, black bear and several species of birds. |
