Fort Bowie National Historic Site was established in 1862 to commemorate the clash between the Chiricahua apaches and the US military. The visitor centre is a must-see destination; it houses artefacts and exhibits them for the tourists. Some of the attractions on the trail to the fort are the Butterfield Stage Coach Station, post cemetery, Apache Springs etc. Outdoor activities at the park include hiking, picnicking, bird watching and wildlife viewing. The landscape of Fort Bowie National Historic Site is admirable, comprising grasslands, rocky slopes, springs and so forth. With the presence of the Sonoran Desert, Chihuahuan Desert and Rocky Mountains in the surrounding regions, the scenic beauty of the historic site is enhanced even more. |
