Lying on the Navajo Reservation, Hubbell Trading Post National Historic Site belonged to John Lorenzo Hubbell, a famous trader of his time. This trading post was operated by the Hubbell family for a long time, and later in 1967, they sold it to the National Park Service. The post does business now also to maintain the Hubbell tradition.
His bungalow has a collection of Native American art which is really admirable. The visitor centre is an interesting place for spending time admiring the art. It houses the remnants from Navajo rug weaving and also a small museum displaying beautiful artefacts. This historical site houses the important remains of the Navajo culture and art like their silverworks, textiles and oral histories. |
