Tuzigoot is an ancient village that was built by the Pueblo people called Sinagua Indians. It has been listed on the National Register of Historical Places and was established as a national monument on 25 July 1939.
The monument houses about 110 rooms and the structures are two to three stories tall. The visitor centre has been built in the similar architectural style and is the best place to begin the tour. Tourists can find a diverse variety of wildlife at the monument. The black-throated sparrow, Bewick’s wren, mule deer, elk and ground squirrels are a common sight at the Tuzigoot National Monument. Tourists can get an excellent view of the surrounding region from the peak of the monument. The nearby Verde River is safe for kayaking, fishing and canoeing. |
