Arkansas Post was founded in the seventeenth century by Henri de Tonti at Osotouy village. The site was declared a national memorial on 6 July 1960. The park is listed on the National Historic Landmark as well as on the National Register of Historic Places.
This park has a visitor centre which screens films on the park and also exhibits artefacts from the region’s past. A number of trails are available at the park. One can experience magnificent scenic beauty by making a trip along these routes. The park is home to prairie grasses, hardwood forests, turkeys, alligators and other beautiful wildlife. The Hot Springs National Park, Buffalo National River, Central High School National Historic Site, to name a few, are some of the major attractions nearby. |
