Juan Bautista de Anza National Historic Trail starts in Nogales in Arizona and culminates in San Francisco in California. The site has been given the status of a national historical trail to commemorate the route that Juan Bautista de Anza, a Spanish Commander, had taken in the eighteenth century to construct a presidio and a mission close to the San Francisco Bay.
The primary attraction on the segment of the trail in Arizona is the Tumacácori National Historical Park. The park houses and protects three of the remnants of the structures constructed by the Spanish mission. The San Jose de Tumacácori is a must-see site. The San Cayetano de Calabaz and the Tubac Presidio State Historic Park are other major attractions on this National Historic Trail. |
