The Lassen Volcanic National Park was set up on 9 August 1916 under the government of President Roosevelt.
The most striking feature of the park is the world’s largest ‘plug dome’ volcano, the Lassen Peak which is a must-see. The Reflection Lake is a beautiful spot offering a perfect reflection of the Lassen Peak. The Manazanita Lake is good for swimming, fishing and canoeing. There are some excellent geothermal activity areas like Sulphur Works, Devils Kitchen and Bumpass Hell to watch boiling hot bubbling mud pools. The park also houses some 83 species of beautiful birds and a variety of wildflowers. This national park is a great place for the adventure lovers, offering a myriad of options like camping, bird watching, kayaking and countless other activities. |
