Dinosaur National Monument was set up on 4 October 1915 and is famous for its collection of dinosaur fossils. The Dinosaur Quarry Visitor Centre is the main attraction at this national monument. The centre houses around 1,400 dinosaur bones in their natural setting, which attracts tourists from the world over. Other important sites preserved at the monument are the rock art done by the Native Americans, the homesteaders’ cabin and a twentieth-century ranch. The Rivers Green and Yampa are the perfect places to enjoy river rafting. The hiking trails near the Temporary Visitors Centre and the one near Canyon Area Visitor Centre are the most popular hiking trails in the area. The area also has a beautiful landscape making it a great holiday spot. |
