Delaware is the second-smallest state in the USA after Rhode Island. The state is bordered to the north by Pennsylvania, to the south and west by Maryland and to the east by New Jersey, Delaware River and Delaware Bay. The state, together with the Eastern Shore counties of Maryland and two counties of Virginia, form the Delmarva Peninsula, which is a geographical unit stretching up to the Atlantic Ocean.
