Formed in 1916, the park is an International Biosphere Reserve as well as a World Heritage Site. The park is home to some of the most active volcanoes in the world like the Mauna Loa. This wilderness area also provides unparalleled hiking and camping opportunities as well as rare flora and fauna.
The Crater Rim Drive and Chain of Craters Road consist of various places of tourist interest. Also, the nearby Petroglyphs Trail and the Kialuea Iki Trail are other beautiful trails in this region.
Consisting of a cafeteria, a bowling alley, a recreation centre and a lounge bar is the Kilauea Military Camp where visitors can unwind after a long day of hiking and driving.
