| Attractions and things to do |
Minidoka Internment National Monument commemorates the hardships suffered by the Japanese Americans at the Relocation Camp during the Second World War. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1979 and was declared a national monument in the 2000.
Most of the structures built by the internees are destroyed. All that remains now is a small gravel parking area, paths, interpretive signs and the spud cellars. The nearby Jerome County Museum and Idaho Farm and Ranch Museum also house some of the remnants of the camp. At present, there is no visitor centre at the monument.
Some of the nearby attractions are the Hagerman Fossil Beds National Monument, City of Rocks National Reserve and Craters of the Moon National Monument and Preserve. |
