Established to celebrate the source and growth of the widely recognised music form jazz, the New Orleans Jazz National Historical Park seeks to preserve the resources linked to development of jazz in the city.
The main attraction of the site is the Perseverance Hall which is the oldest Masonic temple in Louisiana. It holds a history of social functions, banquets, recitals and concerts where jazz music was performed. A scenic place, it is also listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
The park also features regular exhibits, films, musical performances, lectures, concerts and guided tours which keep the park alive throughout the year.
The French Quarter preserves the history of jazz and offers selective information about the pioneers of jazz.
