Saint Croix Island International Historic Park was established on 8 June 1949 to commemorate the French expedition led by Pierre Dugua to Saint Croix Island in the seventeenth century.
There is scenic beauty all around the island with woods, coasts, mountains and so forth. A number of beautiful bronze statues of the French explorers are also placed on the islands that will interest the tourists. The Saint Croix Island International Historic Site is also worth visiting. It has nice walking trails and interpretive displays explaining the history and culture of early French settlers. Located at some distance from the park is the Port Royal National Historic Site which is a popular tourist spot. The Downeast Heritage Museum is a great place for history lovers. |
