| Attractions and things to do |
Authorized in 1988, the park is listed on the National Register of Historic Places and consists of three different parts with forts being the major inclusions. The park celebrates the rich cultural history of the region and is the symbol of the pivotal role played by the city in the ancient times.
The three units of the park mainly consist of the Fort Rosalie, which was built by the French; the William Johnson House; and the Melrose, which is the only unit currently open to public.
The Melrose exhibits painted floor cloths, Rococo furniture, books, furnishings and other archaeological objects. Visitors can enjoy guided tours of the mansion as well as the regular events held here. Educational programmes, fishing and bird watching are some of the other activities here. |
