Pony Express National Historic Trail extends between Missouri and California. |
| Attractions and things to do |
This 1,800-mile-long trail was used for delivering letters between California and Missouri with the help of horseback riders. This idea was devised by the owners of the Pony Express Company William H. Russell, William B. Waddell and Alexander Majors. All along the route stations were built where horsemen could rest. Most of these stations are now tourist spots. The Patee House is a major tourist attraction. It is a building with 140 rooms and served the purpose of a luxurious hotel. Similarly, the Pony Express Stable, Marysville Pony Express Barn and Hollenberg Station are other popular tourist attraction.
Adventure lovers will be glad to visit this site with the available options like auto-touring, biking and horseback riding. |
