The people of Nebraska come from a simple farming background. Residents of the state are called Nebraskans or sometimes referred to as ‘Cornhuskers’. Nebraska has the largest Czech-American population in the US, while the major ancestry group in the state are the German-Americans.

Discover thousands of years of history at the Museum of Nebraska History. Learn more about Fort Robinson at the Fort Robinson Museum which features historical structures dating back to the early nineteenth century. A major attraction is the Pioneer Village in Minden, which has a museum complex of over 28 buildings. The Durham Western Heritage Museum is an art deco-style train station well worth a visit. Of particular interest is the impressive Carhenge, a replica of Stonehenge built using vintage American cars.

September sees the quaint Fall Harvest Festival at Springfield which features country and folk music and the ever-popular grape stomping. Rockville, the lobster capital of Nebraska, hosts the Rockstock Lobster Festival in the first week of August. Also visit Hastings to be a part of the Miles of Memories Country Music Fest and the RV Rally. Other popular events include the Omaha Riverfront Jazz and Blues Festival, the Taste of Omaha, the Nebraska Bluegrass Festival and the Nebraska State Fair.
