The state is divided into three distinct regions—the Coastal Plain, the Piedmont Plateau and the Appalachian Mountains.
The state holds the distinction of being the nation’s largest furniture, tobacco, brick, and textile producer. North Carolina has also long been involved in the textile manufacturing, producing cotton, synthetic and silk goods.
