Wisconsin: Introduction and History

The total area covered by Wisconsin is 169,790 sq km. It has about 5,363,700 inhabitants, its capital being Madison.

Wisconsin, a state in the US, is bordered by the Montreal River; the Great LakesLake Michigan and Lake Superior; and the states of Michigan, Illinois, Iowa and Minnesota. Due to its location between the Mississippi River and the Great Lakes, the state of Wisconsin exhibits a wide variety in its landscape, which renders it a favourite tourist destination.

Though manufacturing, agriculture and health care form the basis of Wisconsin’s economy, the state has an important and fast emerging tourist industry. Christianity is the predominant religion in the state.
