Formerly a fur trade route from the Mississippi River to Lake Superior, the Saint Croix National Scenic Riverway is now a designated wild river and also the largest scenic riverway in east Mississippi. It is renowned for activities like canoeing, fishing, boating, camping and hunting.
Fishing is a favoured activity here with the famous smallmouth bass fishery and other exotic species of fish like northern pike and sturgeon being here. Also, the Namekagon River is a famous fishing spot.
There are six beautiful state parks in the vicinity like the Wild River State Park and St Croix State Park where visitors can enjoy camping in the nature trails and various recreational opportunities. The abundant wildlife includes wolves, deer, otter, fox, raccoons and more. |
