The residents of the state are called ‘Arizonans’. Native Americans have inhabited the region for a millennia, and their heritage can be reflected in the architecture and museums of the land. Hispanic influences still exist in Arizona as proof of the mark left by the Spanish conquerors. The state is also a winter home for many senior citizens across the country. A famed natural attraction is the immense Barringer Meteorite Crater (simply known as the Meteor Crater), which is located in the Colorado Plateau. The breathtaking Grand Canyon, the sandstone spires of Monument Valley and the red rocks of Sedona are a photographer’s delight. Ride on the scenic Route 66, which was said to be the ‘Main Street of America’. Observe the Spanish colonial style of design at the Mission San Xavier Del Bac and the Steinfeld House in Tucson, or browse the impressive collection of pottery, paintings and jewellery in the tourist area of Scottsdale. Every Labour day, the Grand Canyon Chamber Music Festival draws multitudes of crowds. The city of Chandler hosts important events like the Chandler Multicultural Festival (held every January), and the three-day Arizona Balloon Festival (which takes place in November).
