The Kartchner Caverns State Park
The park is about 9 miles to the south of the city of Benson and is well-known as the crown jewel of the city’s park system. The park mostly comprises of the down-dropped mass of the Palaeozoic rocks which are on east border of the Whetstone Mountains in the Coronado National Forest. The Kartchner Caverns State Park is engraved from lime stones and is filled with amazing speleothems which are there for the past 50,000 years and are still in the growth process due to the care and maintenance taken by the authority of the park. The entrance fees for the Vehicles carrying maximum 2 adults is $5, individual rate is $2 and $2 for bicycles.
The San Pedro Valley Arts and Historical Society Museum
This place highlights the local history by displaying the various artifacts from the early times which ranges from the sewing machine to the horse drawn school bus. The museum is located in the downtown Benson. It operates from the month of October to April: Tuesday to Friday from 10:00 to 16:00 hours, and on Saturday from 10:00 to 14:00 hours, while from May to July and September: Tuesday to Saturday from 10:00 to 14:00 hours, it remains closed on Sundays, Mondays and in the month of August. The entry is free for all.
