Chino Valley is famous as site of 1st ‘Territorial Capital’ with respect to Arizona. This capital was later moved to Prescott in the year 1864. ‘Chino’, in actual sense, is Mexican name relating to plenty of curly grama grass which happens to grow in this area.
The incorporation of Chino Valley took place in the year 1970.
The above-mentioned town has been in Arizona’s north-central part, at the distance of 15 miles on the northern side of Prescott on ‘state Highway 89’; and 35 miles on the southern side of ‘Ash Fork’; that’s on ‘Interstate 40’. The elevation from sea level is 4750 feet.
The population as per 2000 census was 7835; with population density being 162.8 per sq. Km. Around 15.5% of total population was found to be below poverty line.
