Kearny can be described as a town located in ‘Pinal County, Arizona, US’.
The name ‘Kearny’ has been given to honor ‘General Stephen Watts Kearny’; who happened to pass via this region on 7th of November, 1846; that too, while having led 100 dragoons towards California. Kearny’s as well as the other towns’ economic bases are Hayden Smelter and Ray mine; owned/operated by ASARCO.
Kearny had been established in the year 1958 by Kennecott Mining Company in the form of a ‘planned community’ for accommodating populations of Sonora, Barcelona, and ray; which lay in its vicinity. Official incorporation of Kearny took place in the year 1959.
Kearny happens to sit adjacent to Gila River in region of Copper Basin accompanied with its ‘sister cities’, i.e. Winkelman and Hayden. As per US Census Bureau, are on the whole comes out to be 7.2 sq. Km (all land).
The winters over here are quite biting; hence, it’s advisable to pay a visit during the summer season.
Population as per 2000 census was 2249.
