Marana can be described as a town situated in county of Pima, Arizona; on the north-western side of Tuscon. Some of its portion lies in ‘Pinal County’ as well.
As per US Census Bureau, area of Marana on the whole comes out to be 190.5 sq. Km; out of which 1.22% consists of water.
Marana is known with regards to history of ranching and farming on its part. Saguaro National Park’s western half and Tuscon Mountains lie on the western side. Marana’s southern part has witnessed tremendous growth in the last few years; with addition of housing and businesses; thanks to annexation of previously incorporated and existing neighborhoods. The city of Phoenix lies at an hour distance on the northern side through Interstate 10.
According to census conducted in the year 2000, population of Marana was 13556; with its density being 72 per sq. Km. Around 6.2% of total population was found to be below poverty line; inclusive of 5.5% of the ones below 18 years of age.
