The history of Papago Park begins back in the year 1879, when the area was designated as an Indian reservation for the Pima and Maricopa tribes. At present, the Army Reserve Motor Park at 64th and oak streets retains its role and is held in the prisoner of war camp. The park covers 1,200 acres and has numerous picnic sites with electricity, water, tables and ramades.
