Tempe is located in the county of Maricopa in Arizona, USA. It is at a very short distance from the Phoenix Sky Harbour Airport.

This city, incorporated on 29 November 1894, has an area of around 102 sq km and houses a population of around 170,000 people.

The earliest settlers in this area were the members of the Hohokam tribe who also built a canal system in the region for farming; this attracted more settlers gradually.

The topography of Tempe consists mainly of flat land with some elevation in certain areas.

Tempe experiences warm to hot summers where temperatures can be around 26°C to 30°C; winters tend to be cooler with the temperature around 10°C.

The economy of this city is dependent on several industries like the aerospace and biotechnology as well as the business sector and the tourism industry.

This city is credited of having one of the most educated populations in Arizona.
