Tubac can be referred to as one of the CDPs, i.e. census-designated places located in ‘Santa Cruz County, Arizona, US’. The name ‘Tubac’ has been derived from a Spanish phrase ‘cu wa’; meaning ‘black water’ or ‘low place’ (respectively).
It goes without saying that this city stands on the banks of Santa Cruz River. Originally, Tubac was a ‘Spanish Colonial Garrison’ located in Arizona.
The population was sparse during the 18th century. However, it got repopulated in the 19th century by farmers, miners, and ranchers. The present scenario is such that Tubac is called an ‘artists’ colony’.
As per US Census Bureau, this CDP’s total area consists of 21.2 sq. Km. Every portion of it is land. Summer would prove to be the best season to visit Tubac. As per 2000 census, median income with regards to every household was $39444; with population of 949. The ‘per capita income’ was $46643. Those living below poverty line were around 6.6%.
