Lonoke is considered as the second most populous city in Lonoke County in Arkansas. It also serves as its county seat. It is also a part of the Little Rock-North Little Rock- Conway Metropolitan Statistical Area. Its name was taken from a large red oak tree which was found while chopping the trees for building and such housing constructions. The official name of Lonoke is Lone Oak.
