Van Buren can be mentioned as the second biggest city all across Fort Smith, Arkansas-Oklahoma Metropolitan Statistical Area. It is also a ‘county seat’ of ‘Crawford County, Arkansas, US’. This place is situated directly on the north eastern side of ‘Fort Smith’ at Interstate 40- Interstate 540 junction. The incorporation of it took place in the year 1842. As per US Census Bureau, Van Buren’s total area is 41.1 sq. Km; out of which 2.2 sq. Km consists of water.

Towards the south, Arkansas River goes on to break up Van Buren from ‘Fort Smith’ of ‘Sebastian County’. Towards the west, Lee Creek happens to run; which ultimately flows in to Arkansas River. The climate of this city can be described as ‘subtropical humid’. Van Buren is located on ‘Tornado Alley’s’ eastern edge. Temperature is around 36 degree F in the month of January; whereas it’s around 81 degree F in the month of July. Precipitation on an average is around 41 inches; with just 6” being snow. The population as per 2005 census was 21249.
