Bellevue is situated in King County in western Washington, USA. Located between Lake Washington and Lake Sammamish, the city is spread over an area of 87.8 sq km.
Established in 1891, the city grew after the arrival of the railroad in 1904. The city was incorporated in 1953 and today has become a retail and technology hub with a population of around 118,000. The city enjoys the commercial benefits of its proximity to Seattle.
The city has a pleasant weather due to the moderating effects of the lakes. Summers are warm and sunny with temperatures ranging from 24°C to 13°C. Winters are mild with temperatures varying from 2°C to 7°C.
True to its name, which means ‘beautiful view’ in French, the city is a visual delight. The Cascade and Olympic Mountains provide a scenic backdrop to the green open spaces. Downtown Park resembles a paradise with meadows and trails culminating at a waterfall.
