Bellingham is the seat of Whatcom County in Washington, USA. With an area of 82.2 sq km, it is the largest city in the county. Located in the Bellingham Bay with Mount Baker in the backdrop, the city has a population of around 72,000.
Founded in 1853 and incorporated in 1903, the city was named after the bay on which it is located. Bellingham’s districts have an eclectic mix of Victorian buildings and shops.
Bellingham enjoys warm summers and mild winters. Summer temperatures range from 22°C to 12°C, while winter temperatures range from 6°C to –1°C.
Bellingham’s waterfront port is a popular landmark. It supports fishing, boat building and shipping. The downtown area is lined with restaurants and galleries. The Whatcom Museum of History and Art is one of the many cultural attractions of the city. Sehome Hill, which houses the Western Washington University, provides a panoramic view of the city.
