Situated in McLean County in central Illinois, USA, the city of Bloomington is spread over an area of 58.3 sq km.
Before the arrival of the white settlers, the area was home to the Kickapoo people. It now has a population of around 65,000.
The city enjoys a warm climate in summer where the average temperature is around 24°C. In winter, the climate is very cold with temperatures dropping to –3°C.
Known as the ‘Beer Nut Capital of the World’, the city is also a thriving university town. Bloomington is home to the Illinois State University and the University Wesleyan. The entire city resembles a bustling campus teeming with students.
