The Prewatt Family Park is a 100 acre portion of the 700 acre section 5 which was given as a deed to the western pacific railroad by Ulysses S grant in 1870. Joseph G Prewett and Ellen O’Brien Prewett farmed this land for the McLaughlin families were given this land. Ultimately, the Prewett family purchased this land in 1909. The couples were good farmers and the land produced good crops and also a good community.
