Banning is a city situated in Riverside County in California in USA. The city is named after Phineas Banning a stagecoach line owner and the father of the Port of Los Angeles. Banning covers a total area of 23.1 square miles, all of which is covered by land. The population of the city as per the 2000 census was 23,562 inhabitants. The city has an elevation of 2600 feet above sea level and is thus relatively cooler as compared to Riverside County. The city gets 18 inches of rainfall annually and 2 inches of snow. There are 268 sunny days with July being the warmest month and January the lowest. There are numerous historic buildings in the city such as the Banning public library and the various churches. The Sun Lakes Village Shopping Center and the Beaumont Shopping Center provide recreational facilities for tourists. San Bernardino International Airport provides transportation to various regions across the world.
