The Angle Island State Park The Angel Island State Park is located one mile form Belvedere Tiburon in San Francisco. The island can be accessed by boats or ferries. It is hilly and forest covered island, with Mt. Livermore 788 feet high. The park is spread across 740 acres of land. There are various activities to do here viz. biking, boating, camping, hiking etc.
This place has a lot of historical importance. It was used as fishing and hunting site by Miwok Indian for almost 6000 years. It was also a major military hub during the Civil War and the Cold War. One can follow the trails and fire roads to move around the island.
One can visit this island from 0800 hrs till sunset all year round.
Richardson Bay Audubon Center & Sanctuary
Richardson Bay Audubon Center & Sanctuary is located in Belvedere Tiburon on San Francisco Bay. It is spread across 11 acres of land and 900 acres of water. This sanctuary is a home to water birds and other wildlife. The Sanctuary provides educational programs to about 4000 people in a year.
One can participate in the many activities offered by the sanctuary; for adults, they can be a part of education workshops, Bay Shore Studies Docent Programs, other volunteer project, while the kids can be a part of the camps organized, and the school science programs.
The Richardson Bay Audubon Center & Sanctuary is open Monday to Saturday from 0900 hrs to 1700 hrs.
