Big Sur backcountry happens to offer a whale of hiking opportunities. One amongst them is ‘Ventana Wilderness’. Its name has been derived from a ‘dramatic’ mountain peak called ‘Ventana Double Cone’. It covers an area of around 167323 acres. Topography of Ventana Wilderness has been characterized by sharp-crested, steep-sized ridges which separate V-shaped valleys.
