Founded in 1981, the Henry Miller Memorial Library is a cultural center library which is devoted to Miller’s life and work. Henry Miller lived in Sur from 1944 to 1962. In 1957, he wrote novel, named Big Sur and the Oranges of Hieronymus Bosch. This is not a library where one can borrow books and also not a memorial with dusty relics. But, a library which is a memorial dedicated to the American writer and artist, Henry Miller.
