This is the highest coastal mountain in the region and lies more than five thousand feet above sea level. This is one of the steepest coastal elevations in the lower 48 United States and is visited by over three million tourists each year. There are many lodging facilities available near the Big Sur River Valley. It also offers mountain climbing, hiking and other outdoor adventures.
