Burbank city lies in the Los Angeles County of the State of California in the United States. It is situated in the eastern part of the San Fernando Valley.

Downtown Los Angeles is located on the south of the city.

The city of Burbank is termed as the "Media Capital of the World", as a large number of entertainment and media companies are based in this city. The headquarters of companies like Warner Bros. Entertainment, Walt Disney Company and NBC Universal are situated in Burbank.

The residents believe that the city is named after Luther Burbank, a famous horticulturist. However, in reality, it is named after David Burbank, who was an entrepreneur and dentist.

The city is home to 100,316 people, as per the 2000 census. The city mainly experiences a Mediterranean climate. As a result the winters are cool and humid, while the summers are dry and hot.
