Canoga Park can be referred to as one of the sections of ‘San Francisco Valley’ area of LA, California, US. It lies at a distance of 40 kilometers on the northwestern side of ‘Downtown Los Angeles’. Canoga Park was known by the name ‘Owensmouth’; from 1912 to 1931.
This was due to the fact that it was situated near terminus of ‘Owens River Acqueduct’. Originally, Canoga Park was ruled by Spain between 1796 and 1822. This was, of course, by conquest and ‘right of discovery’. For the subsequent 25 years, it was in Mexico’s possession. Finally, as a part of reparation following ‘Mexican War of 1945’, it got awarded to the US.
It has been believed that the name ‘Canoga’ had originated from ‘Le Canoas’ or watering troughs utilized by Indians staying in this area. The year 1842 witnessed the discovery of gold in hills which encircled the valley.
The climate over here is quite pleasant.
The population is around 70000.
