Carmel river state beach is known as one of the many beaches which is situated in Carmel by the Sea. The Carmel River rises high on the east slopes of the Santa Lucia Mountains and empties into the sea to the south of Carmel. The river is known for many moods. Some of its forks, and swollen by spring and winter rains, can be unpredictable.
