The city of Carson is located in Los Angeles County in California. It is situated about 13 miles south of Los Angeles downtown. This city was incorporated in the year 1968. It is positioned at 33°50′23′N 118°15′35′W. The city covers a total area of 19.0 square meters of which 18.8 square metres is land and 0.1 square metres is water. The elevation of the city is about 12 meters. Carson is rated as the youngest municipality in the South Bay area of Greater Los Angeles.According to the census of 2000, the population of Carson is 89,730 with a population density of 4,762.2 people per square meter. The total housing units were 25,337 with a median density of 1,334.7 square meters. The racial composition of the city was 2.99%25 of Pacific Islanders, 0.56%25 of Native Americans, 25.41%25 of African Americans, 25.69%25 Whites, 22.27%25 Asians and 17.98%25 of other races. The Latino or the Hispanic population contributed 34.92%25 of the total populace.
