Tourist Guide Channel Islands
This island is located off the coast of California in the Santa Barbara County, Los Angeles County and Ventura County.
Channel Islands are also called as the Santa Barbara Islands and this is among the most unexplored attractions in the entire California region. Channel Islands National Park covers the five northernmost islands of Channel Islands that seaward stretch through Santa Monica Mountains.
In all three Channel Islands don’t form a part of the Channels national park, San Clemente and San Nicholas that are under administration control of US government. Santa Catalina is one of the most happening tourist attractions.
The closest to the mainland and at a distance of just 11 mile from Oxnard is the Anacapa Island. The tourists can begin from this island beginning a climb of 154 steps after reaching the island by a boat.
Along with a nature’s trail, this place is gifted with a museum and a lighthouse. One should enjoy a the available overnight camping facilities. Santa Rosa, San Miguel and Santa Barbara are the other islands within the park.
Located at the harbor in Ventura is the national parks visitors’ center which shall provide the tourists with all the latest information about every island. This will guide on the list of activities that one may carry out and necessary guidelines with respect to them.
The tourists can use the boat services operated by Island Packers till the national park departing from Oxnard and Ventura. The boat services are available throughout the year to Santa Cruz and Anacapa and are limited to the other islands.
The tourists can enjoy the nature’s beauty by taking a guided hike, or just a kayak, explore the caves, scuba dive and bird watching.
