I had the opportunity to visit the Olympic Training Center last Saturday. It was about 9 a.m. and there was a BMX practice event going on. After that I wandered over to the clothing store and found a few nice gifts for my daughter's birthday.
They said their free tours were at 11a, 1p and 3p so I went on the 11a tour. They showed a short film that showed athletes doing their different events. The tour was on a go cart that took us around the facility which was pretty big, 155 acres.
On the tour they talked about the history of the training center and how the athletes go through the process of getting to the point of becoming Olympians. Overall, it was a beautiful facility with a lakeside view, a virtual haven for aspiring athletes.
While on the tour I saw one of the athletes doing his pole vault thing, some were at archery and others were playing on the soccer field.
I recommend visiting this facility to all my friends and family as it was a nice way to spend a day and learn about the place where Olympic hopefuls in this area go to practice.
