The suburban, middle class city of Costa Mesa is located within Orange County in California State in the United States.
Before its formation in the year 1953, Costa Mesa was a semi rural community that was mainly dependant on farming. Later, the economy of this small town developed and it expanded into a suburban city.
At the same time, its population increased. As per the 2000 census, the city had a population of 108,724 residents. It was a mere 16,840 before the formation of the town. Currently, the city's main businesses are light manufacturing, commerce and retail.
Destinations like Los Angeles, Anaheim, Newport Beach and San Diego are within easy reach of Costa Mesa.
The city mainly experiences a Mediterranean climate with summers which are generally hot with high humidity. Winters, on the contrary, are cold. Snowfall can be experienced occasionally in winters as one moves to the inner part of the city.
Costa Mesa is adjacent to the sea which has an effect on its climate.
