EL Cerrito is a city of United States which is situated in Contra Costa Country. An exciting motto of the city is ‘where the music rocks and the hills roll’. The city was founded by a refugee of San Francisco after the earthquake in 1906. The refugee camp was known as Rust which was named by the refugee settlers which later developed as a village. The city initially got incorporated in the name of the founder Mr. Wilhelm Rust. There were around 1500 residents, later the name of the city was changed to El Cerrito by the village residents. EL Cerrito city is around 5 miles away from Berkeley campus, University of California and has around two Bay Area rapid transit stations (BART) which are EL Cerrito del Norte and El Cerrito Plaza. The local landmark of the city is Albany Hills which is in Albany just across the board of El Cerrito city, Berkeley is to the southeast just 150 meters from El Cerrito. The total population of the city as per 200 census was around 23,171 and the total area of the city is around 3.7 square miles which is all covered by land.
