Galt city, settled in the Sacramento County of California is situated at an elevation of just 45 feet above the sea level. It is viewed to be part of the Sacramento–Roseville Metropolitan Statistical Area. The city is situated 11.6 miles to the east of Thornton, 7.0 miles to the north of North Woodbridge and 11.3 miles to the south of Wilton. The population count performed in the year 2000 discovered the population to be 19,472. However by the mid of 2005 the total number went up to 23,173. The Census Bureau of U.S.A found that the city has a total area of 5.9 square miles of which, 5.9 square miles is land and just 0.17% is water. The city also has a weekly newspaper, The Galt Herald which was first published in the year 1909 and was owned by the Herburger Publications. The fields of occupation here include Construction (14%), Public administration (8%), Agriculture, fishing and hunting (6%), Repair and maintenance (5%), Scientific and technical services (4%), Food services (4%) and more. The climate here varies from Mediterranean to subarctic. The northern parts receive higher yearly rainfall than the southern part.
