Tourist Guide Half Moon Bay
Half Moon Bay is a coastal city in San Mateo County in California. To its north, there is the Pillar Point Harbor and the incorporated community of Prince town-by-the-Sea. The city is on a bay of the same name. Originally known as San Benito, the community began to develop in 1840s.
It has a population of 11,842 people as per the 2000 census. As of 2009, its population reached to 12,336 people.
As per the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 6.5 square miles, out of which 6.1 square miles is land and 0.04 square miles is water.
Half Moon Bay has mild weather year round. It experiences 27 inches of rainfall each year with 259 sunny days. The number of days having measurable precipitation is 82 days. January is low with 43 degrees and the month of July is high with 64 degrees. Hot weather is rare here and typical of central California, most of the rainfall falls from November to April.
