Nicknamed 'The Heart of the Bay', Hayward city lies in Alameda County in California State of the United States. Hayward basically lies in a sub-region of the San Francisco Bay Area, which is East Bay. Because of its population, Hayward is the 6th largest city in this area. As per the 2007 census, the city has 155,312 residents. Recently, the suburbs of Schafer Parka and Mount Eden were incorporated into Hayward.
Hayward is within easy reach of the two principal cities, San Francisco and Oakland. The city was a part of Rancho San Lorenzo. Downtown Hayward is one of the famous spots in the city. The early economy of the city of Hayward depended heavily on Hunt Wesson Food. This company was formerly known as Hunt Brothers Cannery, which was established in 1895. The Hayward Executive airport is the major airbase in the state.
Similar to other cities and towns in California state, the city of Hayward experiences a Mediterranean climate. However, since it lies in the western part of the state, temperate climatic conditions prevail.
