Home to the stars, Hollywood has a distinct culture of its own. The numerous studios lined up across the district form the basic characteristic of the area. Every year, thousands of aspiring youngsters come to fulfil their dream of becoming a star.
The Mecca for movie buffs, Hollywood’s studios and theatres is its biggest attractions, for example, the Kodak Theatre (venue for the Academy Awards). Two things that symbolise Hollywood are the Hollywood sign and the Hollywood Walk of Fame. The Hollywood Walk of Fame is a sidewalk on the Hollywood Boulevard, which has the name of certain actors, who have been recognised for their contribution to the industry by the Chamber of Commerce.
Then, there are other renowned attractions such as the Hollywood Wax Museum which has wax statues dedicated solely to celebrities. The Hollywood Heritage Museum on the other hand boasts of some rare exhibits, photographs, props and documents from the silent era of motion pictures. The Griffith Park in Santa Monica has several of its own attractions to look forward to.
Film festivals and premiers are a common feature in Hollywood. Certain special events are the Hollywood Christmas Parade and the CINECON Classic Film Festival and Exposition.
